Steven J. Cahn, Program Annotator for The Park Avenue Chamber
Symphony, is an Assistant Professor at the College-Conservatory of Music
at the University of Cincinnati. Professor Cahn is a music
theorist and pianist whose research interests include Schoenberg
studies, the history of music theory, aesthetics, and historiography.
His recent publications include contributions to Schoenberg and Words
(New York, 2000), Kol Nidre in Schoenberg: Interpretationen Seiner Werke
(Vienna), Ostinato Rigore (Paris), and Music Theory Spectrum. Dr. Cahn
has recently delivered papers at the Arnold Schoenberg Centre (Vienna),
the School of Oriental and African Studies (University of London), as
well as at annual meetings of the American Musicological Society, Music
Theory Midwest, and the Music Theory Society of New York State. He has
held grants from the National Endowment for the Humanities and has
conducted research at the National Institutes of Health. Ph.D., SUNY
Stony Brook; CCM since 1997.
