About the Soloists
Lucie
Onderwyzer, Concertmaster of The Park Avenue Chamber
Symphony, began her musical studies at age 5 with piano lessons from
her mother in Shelburne, Vermont. After attending an orchestra
concert, she was inspired to play the violin and soon enrolled in
the Suzuki violin program at age 7. Lucie's musical family was very
supportive of her development as a violinist. She was soloist and
concert master of the Vermont Youth Orchestra and all New England
Festival Orchestra and was a frequent recitalist. She won a
scholarship to study with Raphael Bronstein at Manhattan School of
Music at age 16. She completed a degree in violin performance in
1988. Soon after graduation, Lucie decided to pursue a career in
computers and keep music as a hobby. She is currently a systems
engineer at Alliance Capital. She has been a member of the Lawyers'
Orchestra and Park Avenue Chamber Symphony since January 2002. Lucie
is currently studying with Shem Guibbory of the Metropolitan Opera
Orchestra, and plays a 2003 Charles Rufino violin.
