About the Soloist
Erika
Atchley began her musical studies at the age of six with her mother as a
Suzuki student. At twelve, she was accepted as a student of Professor Tyrone
Grieve at the University of Wisconsin.
Ms. Atchley graduated from the North Carolina School
for the Arts where she held the Osborn Scholarship and then completed her
graduate studies at the Manhattan School of Music. She has performed solo
and chamber recitals throughout the United States, Canada and Europe. Ms.
Atchley had recorded for the Koch, Newport Classics and Atlantic labels. Her
teachers have included Elaine Richey, Mitchell Stern and Burton Kaplan.
Currently, Ms. Atchley resides in New York City and she
plays in various musical groups, including the Harrisburg Symphony and the
Alma string quartet. Ms. Atchley teaches violin at the Huntington Suzuki
Music School, and is a regular guest clinician at Meredith College in
Raleigh, North Carolina. As a former dancer, Ms. Atchley also enjoys
teaching fitness.
